About Smart Olawale

If we live for ourselves alone, our names die the day we die.

Dear reader, life is a beautiful storm — full of ups and downs, selfishness and wonder. In the midst of all the noise, making the world a little better feels like the most sacred duty. I’ve made an intentional choice to do just that — to be diligent with my craft, whether working alongside a team of tech thinkers or hustling through everyday roles that shape character. Through every high and low, I’ve committed myself to solving problems, adding value, and leaving something meaningful behind. How? Where? You’re about to find out.

My JOURNEY

I learned independence early. My parents worked hard to give us comfort, but I always felt the need to earn my own path. So, while still an undergraduate, I took my first job — not in a tech firm or newsroom, but in a church. Serving as a gospel assistant, I learned the art of connecting with people, caring deeply, and following up on their stories. That experience opened my eyes to the power of communication — of speaking with empathy and purpose.

By 2016, I was leading new student fellowships, building communities, and seeing the gap between education and engagement. That realization birthed the idea for something greater — I founded the OOU Literary and Debating Society. It wasn’t just a club; it became a movement that gave students a voice. We debated ideas, hosted competitions, and built bridges across disciplines. It was there that I sharpened some of my most valuable skills — word-of-mouth marketing, conversational writing, leadership, networking, and team building.

After graduation, life led me to Lagos — a city where dreams meet hustle. With no connections, I once stood at the gates of X3M Ideas, hoping for a chance. The gatekeeper almost turned me back, but I left my CV anyway. Though that door didn’t open, another did. Through a friend, I joined the media world — starting as a journalist covering the insurance industry. That’s where I earned my first byline and eventually rose to become a senior voice among campus media outlets.

Those moments taught me grit, resilience, and the vastness of the media world. I didn’t just learn to write — I learned to tell stories that matter.

HSENations & Ha-Shem Limited

My NYSC year didn’t go as planned. The pandemic changed everything — but it also opened new doors. I joined HSE Nations, Africa’s leading Health, Safety, and Environment media platform, and became part of the team that organized some of the biggest HSE events across the continent. Soon after, I moved to Ha-Shem Limited, a fast-rising tech company where I wore multiple hats: cybersecurity advocate, marketing strategist, and B2B growth driver. Together with a brilliant team, I helped close million-dollar deal sizes, generate hundreds of B2B leads, and run one of our most successful PR campaigns.

The United Kingdom

Moving to the UK marked a new chapter — one that tested not just my skills but my spirit. From working as a research assistant and international student ambassador to taking on hospitality and retail jobs, I’ve learned that no role is too small when purpose guides you. Each experience — whether speaking at an academic event or managing a busy shift — has refined my character and broadened my worldview. To this day, I still take on menial jobs with the same dedication I give to marketing campaigns. It keeps me grounded.

So, who am I? I’m a storyteller, a strategist, and a student of life — driven by curiosity, faith, and the desire to make ideas come alive.
